Possible Change in Wednesday AM Ride This Week

Just in case anyone was thinking about joining me for the ride I usually lead on Wednesday Mornings, I'm thinking about starting earlier this week.

Normally, I go to the monument at 11:15 but this time I'm trying to set up my schedule to leave at 8:30. I know that's considered impossibly early for those without administrative jobs and small children, but I thought I'd put the invitation out just in case.

If you want to get out early and stay out until about noon or 1:00, send me an e-mail at strickle@ohio.edu and let me know.

Start of Fall 2009

We had our first meeting of the quarter last night and picked out some weekly club rides. The rides are...

Monday @ 4:00 PM

Wednesday @ 4:30 PM

Friday @ 4:15 PM

We meet at the Civil War monument right by the intersection of Court Street and Union Street on College Green. Anyone interested in riding with the club must come with a helmet and their completed Emergency Card and Assumption of Risk forms available from the Club Sports Website
http://www.ohio.edu/recreation/club/forms.htm.
We also recommend bringing water!

We are considering another weekly ride Wednesday @ 11:00.

We also are considering a trip to the trails at Bob Evans Farm Saturday, September 12. (Hopefully the trails will be marked up for the race taking place the following day.)

Getting Ready For Fall Quarter

A couple of recent e-mails from Pat, our incoming president, made me realize that the new academic year will be starting awfully soon. For those of you who've ridden with us before and are gearing up to get ready to come back to Athens, make sure you're scheduling some time to ride. Fall is always one of my favorite times of the year to be on the trails.

If you're about to be new to OU, bring a bike. Athens is a great cycling town. Most of the time you can get anywhere in town quicker and easier by bike than you can by car. But the real reason is the trails. We may not be Moab, or Slatyfork, or Downieville, but we've got enough singletrack to keep you busy for a while. And a big chunk of it is close enough to campus that you can even squeeze in a ride between classes. Check out the links on the right hand side of the page for maps of the Lake Hope trails and the Sells Park/Stroud's Run area.

If you'll be going to any of the activities for first year students, make sure you stop by our table at the Involvement Fair on Monday the 7th between 3:30 and 5:30 and put yourself on our contact list. And keep an eye on this website for updates on meeting times and group rides.

End of Year Wrap Up

Greetings from Patrick Fahey, the 2009-2010 year President. The year is almost to a close, and we have a few events coming up. We will need as many people as possible to help out with the Student Involvement Fair next fall to gather some kids for next year. I will post some information on this as I receive it, and post it here as well as send it out on the listserve.
